Woo! Hello, and welcome to our first blog post! We’re super excited about our first post and we’re going to ignore the fact that blogs are always more work than we think they will be. Anyhoo, we are not here to complain, we’re here to share with you the story of how we got this party started!
My name is Ramneek, and my entire life, I have been an obsessive planner. OBSESSIVE. There is something so incredibly fun about spending hours of my life and coming out with the perfect plan. Of course, plans are almost always only perfect on paper, because would it even be life if everything went according to plan? That’s why you get to spend countless more hours of your life working on contingency plans! It originally started when I would plan family trips. Weeks of planning would lead to a printed booklet of minute by minute itineraries (with contingency plans) that if ever lost, would lead to us being completely disorientated. My family often jokes that I already have my entire wedding planned even though it is surely still a few years away. It’s not true, in case you were wondering, it is only 60% planned.
Evented started as an idea that was sparked by my nightly routine of perusing Instagram (who knew social media could be helpful for anything more than killing brain cells?). Someone had posted their baby shower mood board and requested that their followers tag any businesses in the local area that would be able to help them make their vision come alive. *Light Bulb Moment* Wouldn’t it be amazing if there was something like TripAdvisor (my favourite travel planning tool) to help people plan events?! *End Light Bulb Moment*. Of course it would be, which is why we started our directory. Sometime between my lightbulb moment and choosing a name, I was fortunate enough to cross paths with Lisa Zhu. She’s been on board ever since, and I thank my lucky stars for it! Our directory is the beginnings of a one-stop-shop event planning research tool where anyone planning an event can look through relevant categories and get a list of companies with links to their social media pages, easy contact forms and more all in one place. *Read: no more spending hours on google and trying to find each company’s facebook page link on their website because trust us, it takes a lot longer than you might think.*
Wedding and party planning is incredibly time consuming and expensive. Not to mention, it’s stressful even for the people who enjoy event planning. Lisa and I are planners at heart. Our souls fill with gratitude and our eyes light up when we get to be creative (or this could be the champagne), so we decided to take our services a step further. The directory is great for people who are insistent on doing things themselves and we hope it gives you a great place to start. For those who feel a migraine coming on from just thinking about planning their own wedding, our pre-packaged weddings might be just the thing for you. Your photographer, officiant, florist, caterer, baker, planner, rentals, decor and a 5% donation to a charitable organization are ALL included.
