Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Pop-Up Wedding?2020-01-27T03:25:41+00:00

Simply put, it’s a wedding planned and organized in a way that you and your guests simply have to show up. We come in (pop-up), set everything up, open the doors to all of our lovely couples and soon after, disappear leaving little trace that we were ever there. Pop-up weddings are personalized, time conscious and beautiful events that above all else, focus on the love between you and your partner.

Can I have a wedding party?2020-01-05T06:58:15+00:00

Yes, the wedding party will be included in your guests count. They can be standing right up there beside you and your partner or watching from the front row. If you wish to have additional bouquets or boutonnieres, please let us know and we can add them to your quote.

How do timelines work? Won’t I feel rushed?2020-01-05T06:51:50+00:00

You are in complete control of your wedding timeline! You can decide how long you’d like the ceremony to be, how long you would like to rent the venue for and how long you would like to spend taking photos. Additional hours can always be added to accommodate your perfect timeline.

Sample Elopement (60 minutes):
5-10 minutes to get guests settled and the couple ready for their chosen entrance.

10-15 minutes for the ceremony.

35-45 minutes for champagne, photos or treats (or all of it)!

Sample Pop-Up Wedding (120 minutes):

10-15 minutes to get guests settled and the couple ready for their chosen entrance.

10-15 minutes for the ceremony.

90-100 minutes for champagne, speeches, slow dances, family photos, couple photos, cake cutting and/or appetizers.

While we may take down the decor and pack up the cake, the party doesn’t have to end with us! Feel free to stay and enjoy the space for as long as you’re able to or head out with your crew for a night on the town!

What can I expect for the mini cocktail reception?2020-02-02T23:14:07+00:00

This is your time to enjoy some nibbles and sips with your guests to celebrate after the ceremony or keep them happy while you’re off taking your photos!

Dependent on the location, we can serve just about anything that you’re craving! Generally couples opt to serve something sweet such as cake, cupcakes or pastries along with cheese, meat and/or veggie boards with crackers, breads and/or paninis. For drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options are available.

These are generally not hot foods so they will not require heating or special kitchen equipment to manage making it super easy to set up anywhere! However, if you are interested in serving hot foods, we can always find the perfect caterer to help out or use the venues in house catering team (if available).

*Please note, some venues require that we only use their in house catering for both drinks and food and may charge additional fees such as corkage or cake cutting fees for any foods/drinks brought in from elsewhere.

Should I get a makeup trial?2020-01-05T07:10:52+00:00

We only work with or recommend artists that are well established and versed in the world of hair and makeup, but your wedding day only happens once! At your makeup or hair trial, the artist learns about your dress, colours, inspiration and helps you put together a look that you will be comfortable with. They get to learn how makeup sits on your skin, the texture of your hair and can make recommendations for both hair and skin care before your big day. Most importantly, during a trial, the artist can adjust the look without the stress of a timeline which is much harder to do on your wedding day.

What do we need to bring on our wedding day?2020-02-02T23:29:28+00:00

You need to bring a valid marriage license that is in good condition (not folded). If, for any reason, this is forgotten on the day, we will not be able to carry out a legally binding marriage. Unfortunately, no refund will be given if you forget to register or bring the license with you on the day. Other than that, bring your fashion flare, wedding rings/other ceremony elements, smiles and of course each other!

Where do we get a marriage license?2020-01-05T07:42:39+00:00

We recommend getting your marriage license at least 30 days before your big day. Prior to being married in Alberta, you must obtain an Alberta Marriage Licence from an Alberta Registry Agent. Fees vary amongst Registry Agents. A marriage licence is valid for 3 months from the date it is issued.

  • The registry agent issues a two-part document. The top part is a Registration of Marriage and the bottom part is the Marriage Licence.
  • The full document (Registration of Marriage and Marriage Licence) must be given to our marriage officiant prior to the ceremony.
  • Please do not fold the marriage license, it must be in good condition.

You must apply together and provide your personal information, and the full names and birthplaces of your parents (including a parent’s maiden name). You must be 18 or older, not under any influence and provide government issued photo I.D.

For more information and full requirements, visit Getting married in Alberta

What are the requirements for the two witnesses for the ceremony?2020-01-05T07:49:51+00:00

You do not need to know the witnesses prior to the wedding so your coordinator and photographer can count. If you bring your own witnesses, they must meet the following requirements:

  • The witnesses must be 18 years of age or older.
  • The witnesses cannot be cognitively impaired.
  • The witnesses must be fluent in the language being spoken at the wedding ceremony and fully understand the English forms they have to sign (interpreters may be used).
  • The witnesses cannot be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

What happens in terms of legalities after the ceremony?2020-01-05T08:01:02+00:00

When you apply for and receive a marriage licence, you will also get a Registration of Marriage form to be used at the ceremony. It is a 2-part document. The top part is a Registration of Marriage and the bottom part is the marriage licence.

  • The marriage license must be given to the officiant before the ceremony. During the ceremony the form will be filled out and signed.
  • The marriage officiant will keep the marriage licence portion of the form after the ceremony and send the Registration of Marriage portion to Vital Statistics for registration.

You will not be sent any legal marriage documents from the government. You are responsible for ordering a permanent Marriage Certificate, which is the legal proof of the marriage. This application can be made at any Registry office. A marriage certificate cannot be issued until the marriage is registered. Only marriages that have occured in Alberta are able to be registered in Alberta.

For more information on how to order a marriage certificate, visit here.

Do you do same-sex Marriages?2020-01-05T08:02:25+00:00

Absolutely! Same sex marriages are 100% legal in Alberta and in our eyes, love is love!

I want to have my elopement/wedding/vow renewal outside of Edmonton – can I?2020-02-02T23:54:43+00:00

Yes!! We can create your dream day just about anywhere on Earth! Fill out this form to get a custom travel quote!

Please keep in mind that if you obtain a marriage license in Alberta, you must get married in Alberta.

What do the Bouquets or Boutonnières look like?2020-01-05T08:12:43+00:00

If you have no preference, we base the flower colours and styles on your theme choice, outfits and the season. If you have a favourite colour or flower let us know and we will do our best to incorporate them! If you have a specific design in mind, send it our way! We will send it to our flower gals and have them create your custom piece using your inspiration photos.

You also have the option to upgrade your Bouquets or Boutonnieres to include specific flowers that may be out of season or to a different material (such as handmade paper flowers, or silk bouquets). You can also upgrade to have real flower decor on your chairs, archway, or table.

Can we personalize our ceremony?2020-01-05T08:19:23+00:00

Couples always have the option of creating and saying their own vows to each other during the ceremony. You can also incorporate other traditions or ideas such handfasting, unity candles etc. Some personalization requests may require you to have a consultation with the officiant so please let us know during your initial inquiry if you have any personalization requests. “

How does the ceremony music work?2020-01-05T08:22:10+00:00

If the venue allows music, we can play music during the event on our portable speaker or house system if the venue has one. We can play a collection of music as background sound or play specific songs at specific moments throughout the event.

For live music, the musician has a set they will play, which will be decided before the event.

Some venues may require a SOCAN license to play music during the event.
