Edmonton Elopement
If a day snuggling or adventuring with your partner sounds like your dream wedding day, an Edmonton Elopement might be the right fit for you.
There’s no rulebook for eloping so each and every ceremony is built to be a true reflection of you, your values and your relationship. Every elopement becomes a representation of the life you’re going to build together or the one you’ve already built. It’s authentic and so you, and that can mean a ceremony on a secluded mountain top or right at home in your living room. And when you’re there, in that moment, with the understanding that the real reason you’re there is each other, no matter what has happened along the way, you’ll know that it’s been perfect.
This is you and your life partner, sharing and soaking in every moment of a truly intimate and momentous occasion.
Every detail is taken care of for you. All of the planning is done for you. Your one and only job is to show up and be ready to marry the love of your life. Your elopement is completely customized so that it features everything that is important to you.
Why Should I Consider an Elopement?
Elopements are a no pressure, no anxiety, no distractions and no obligations way of getting married. You may have your hands full or find that you’re not a fan of attention and the hoopla of a large traditional wedding doesn’t excite you. It may be that your idea of true romance is just spending the day with each other and you want to be fully and truly present for every moment you have. You might be the adventurous type, and this represents another opportunity to adventure together (+ there’s no reasonably feasible way to take 200 people to the Isle of Skye in Scotland). Eloping means that you get to relax, both before your big day with no planning stress and on your big day too!
We only work with or recommend artists that are well established and versed in the world of hair and makeup, but your wedding day only happens once! At your makeup or hair trial, the artist learns about your dress, colours, inspiration and helps you put together a look that you will be comfortable with. They get to learn how makeup sits on your skin, the texture of your hair and can make recommendations for both hair and skin care before your big day. Most importantly, during a trial, the artist can adjust the look without the stress of a timeline which is much harder to do on your wedding day.
You need to bring a valid marriage license that is in good condition (not folded). If, for any reason, this is forgotten on the day, we will not be able to carry out a legally binding marriage. Unfortunately, no refund will be given if you forget to register or bring the license with you on the day. Other than that, bring your fashion flare, wedding rings/other ceremony elements, smiles and of course each other!
We recommend getting your marriage license at least 30 days before your big day. Prior to being married in Alberta, you must obtain an Alberta Marriage Licence from an Alberta Registry Agent. Fees vary amongst Registry Agents. A marriage licence is valid for 3 months from the date it is issued.
- The registry agent issues a two-part document. The top part is a Registration of Marriage and the bottom part is the Marriage Licence.
- The full document (Registration of Marriage and Marriage Licence) must be given to our marriage officiant prior to the ceremony.
- Please do not fold the marriage license, it must be in good condition.
You must apply together and provide your personal information, and the full names and birthplaces of your parents (including a parent’s maiden name). You must be 18 or older, not under any influence and provide government issued photo I.D.
For more information and full requirements, visit Getting married in Alberta
You do not need to know the witnesses prior to the wedding so your coordinator and photographer can count. If you bring your own witnesses, they must meet the following requirements:
- The witnesses must be 18 years of age or older.
- The witnesses cannot be cognitively impaired.
- The witnesses must be fluent in the language being spoken at the wedding ceremony and fully understand the English forms they have to sign (interpreters may be used).
- The witnesses cannot be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
When you apply for and receive a marriage licence, you will also get a Registration of Marriage form to be used at the ceremony. It is a 2-part document. The top part is a Registration of Marriage and the bottom part is the marriage licence.
- The marriage license must be given to the officiant before the ceremony. During the ceremony the form will be filled out and signed.
- The marriage officiant will keep the marriage licence portion of the form after the ceremony and send the Registration of Marriage portion to Vital Statistics for registration.
You will not be sent any legal marriage documents from the government. You are responsible for ordering a permanent Marriage Certificate, which is the legal proof of the marriage. This application can be made at any Registry office. A marriage certificate cannot be issued until the marriage is registered. Only marriages that have occured in Alberta are able to be registered in Alberta.

If you have no preference, we base the flower colours and styles on your theme choice, outfits and the season. If you have a favourite colour or flower let us know and we will do our best to incorporate them! If you have a specific design in mind, send it our way! We will send it to our flower gals and have them create your custom piece using your inspiration photos.
You also have the option to upgrade your Bouquets or Boutonnieres to include specific flowers that may be out of season or to a different material (such as handmade paper flowers, or silk bouquets). You can also upgrade to have real flower decor on your chairs, archway, or table.
Couples always have the option of creating and saying their own vows to each other during the ceremony. You can also incorporate other traditions or ideas such handfasting, unity candles etc. Some personalization requests may require you to have a consultation with the officiant so please let us know during your initial inquiry if you have any personalization requests. “
If the venue allows music, we can play music during the event on our portable speaker or house system if the venue has one. We can play a collection of music as background sound or play specific songs at specific moments throughout the event.
For live music, the musician has a set they will play, which will be decided before the event.
Some venues may require a SOCAN license to play music during the event.
